Microsoft
Access is one of the easiest and most flexible database management solutions
for the medical office. Microsoft Access provides data validation and
user-friendly features on data entry screens. We have been designing medical
databases in Microsoft Access since 1996. Our databases were always designed
bearing in mind the physician's specific needs, making appointment scheduling,
prescription writing and codification of past medical history and history of
present illness (HPI) really easy.
Nowadays,
every medical professional operates in a fast changing reality, surrounded by
and dependent on various kinds of computer-based equipment and complicated
information systems. Even for the routine practice of a small private medical practice,
a wide range of usually expensive software and hardware is required. However,
despite all that sophisticated equipment around us, the need for personal
applications is greater than ever. A modern medical professional needs to know
how to create databases in order to organize data appropriately, either for
having instant access to patient data via a laptop or a PDA for routine use or
for medical research purposes.
Our Products Based On Microsoft Access:
"Seven" is a feature-rich medical office software for medical office administration based on Microsoft Access. We choose Microsoft Access environment due to its popularity and integration with Microsoft Office. Terminology and reports text are fully customizable, using user-friendly data entry forms and multiple functionalities!
Designed for small-sized medical practices (2-8 users), "Seven" is fast and easy-to-use, it allows real-time customization and excellent reporting features. With this solution you can be up and running in one hour!
The Access ICD-9-CM Coder Software is a diagnosis and procedure categorization search tool based on Microsoft Access.
Access ICD-9-CM Coder is based on the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM), a uniform and standardized coding system.

Our long
experience in hospital environments has indeed proven that in daily medical
practice, a medical professional often needs a PDA or laptop to access valuable
information right on the spot, despite the possible existence of a PACS or a
central database. In the last decade, we had to create more than 50 Microsoft
Access databases customized to the requirements of specific medical research
protocols. It is obvious that medical professionals would be quite satisfied if
they were able to connect their laptops to a central database in their
departments and retrieve information for further analysis in places where they
haven't got access in the HIS or RIS. That is what we actually do!
The graphic
environment of a database design software, such as Microsoft Access, is a very
inexpensive way to organize data, making use of user-friendly forms and tables.
However, it requires knowledge of database design rules and a programming
language known as Visual Basic for Applications. In this environment, tasks such
as appointment scheduling, prescription writing and billing management are really
feasible.
As far as
we know, there are many physicians and other healthcare scientists who have
attended extended seminars on Microsoft Access in order to be able to develop
their own personal database. However, the results were most often dubious or
simply disappointing. Many of their attempts in designing a personal database
have led to permanent data loss or, at best, to databases lacking sufficient
data handling capabilities.
We are
convinced that the best way for medical practitioners to enter the world of
medical databases is to purchase a professionally designed but inexpensive
Microsoft Access medical database.
